If one of my customers ask for their ETS file they will also sign a paper which states I am no longer responsible for the installation and any future work will be billed by the hour. KNX is one of the most reliable systems, and its also because it is mostly installed by skilled individuals and not some home DIY project like all the other 'smart home' systems out there. The fact there is such a steep license cost prevents that, and people will contact installers OR first learn about KNX before attempting to make a change. If ETS were free many people would try to tinker with their own installations and would complain when they break something. Some websites also offer bulk orders from time to time, which allow you to save about 400€.

If you don't need the ETS right now, wait for some offers to get a discount. Make at least the official ETS eCampus to get a discout. Of course you can ask your integrator for the project but if it has more then 64 devices, you won't be able to open it unless you have an ETS6 Professional yourself.Īlso note, that you should never buy the ETS with the normal price. But in general 1 physical device = 1 device in ETS. Some IP interfaces, routers or servers use two (or more) different application programms and therefor they count as multiple devices. Note that there is always the possibility tocupgrade your licence to the higher tier, the total cost should always be the same as much as I know.Ī device is usually a phyiscal device but there are a few exceptions.

As much as I know you can have multiple projects but the licence does not allow that.

If thats to complex, as you have many devices, the ETS Home might be an option for you. Depending on how many devices you have, you cpuld split the project into multiple smaller projects with the ETS Ligth, which supports 20 devices per project.
